Our Story
In 2005, Rick Collins – “The Guv’nor” – an enjoyer of fine cigars and single malts, began looking into opening a cigar lounge and bar. In 2023 – nearly 20-years later – Rick traveled to his home city of London, United Kingdom, on a sabbatical where he visited the 10 best cigar lounges in the city.
He bought back two key ideas: first, there is no reason that a cigar lounge and bar cannot have the most amazing client services, and second, cigar lounges were stuck in the past with their dark interiors, brown furniture, and obligatory Scarface and Clint Eastwood pictures.
With this valuable information in mind, Rick and his partner, Deb, earlier this year proudly launched a reimagining of the traditional cigar lounge and sports bar by opening Winston’s Cigar Lounge & Sports Bar in San Juan Capistrano. Winston’s offers an elevated experience for cigar afficionados and enjoyers of fine whiskeys, bourbons, and amazing craft cocktails. Complete with Wine Club, cigar events, whiskey and tequila tastings, weekend music, and enough TVs to show every game, Winston’s expects to be the most talked about establishment in the OC.
Why Winstons?
Our luxurious, beautiful, smoke-free bar with its custom bar stools manufactured in Italy has the look and feel of a 5-Star Hotel, and our renowned cigar, wine, and mixology specialists take care of our valued clients every need. “We have the passion and drive to ensure that Winston’s will be the poster child for how cigar lounges and sports bars ‘should’ look,” says Rick.
Winston’s also has a large VIP room for special events and parties, and a cigar room complete with lockers and creature comforts for our smokers. A large humidor and wine retail center with well-priced selections caters to locals needing to stock their wine cabinets and humidors. In addition to our 4,100 sq. ft. space, a cool 400 sq. ft. outdoor patio is in the works.
